On the low-fodmap diet, finding a suitable frozen yogurt is tough.
Every frozen yogurt you'd find at the store is not lactose-free. Since this recipe uses Greek yogurt, it is generally tolerated well by those who are lactose intolerant or on the low-fodmap elimination diet.
Many people aren't aware of this, but Greek yogurt is very low in lactose! The unique straining process of Greek yogurt removes the majority of lactose from the yogurt. The probiotics in Greek yogurt also aid in digestion and can improve your gut microbiome. It is a common misconception that all dairy should be avoided on the low-fodmap diet, but Greek yogurt does much more good that harm for those with IBS.
Frozen yogurt is a great option for when you crave something sweet and cold, but not something quite as heavy and filling as ice cream. It's a nutritious way to get a full serving of low-fodmap fruit and the wonderful vitamins they contain.
